Bore Me – Please!

So, my first blog. (fireworks please)

A friend sent  a video of a TED talk –  “Genevieve Bell – The Value of Boredom” the other day.  It hit a chord with me, how about you?

Not too many nights ago we had family night watching a great movie on Netflix.  My kids each had a laptop in their laps and my wife had her smartphone. I was the only one not “multitasking”.  I suppose watching a movie without extra devices  is well – boring!

My take is we all need some downtime away from the gadgets, giving us a chance to recharge, refocus on what’s important. Call up your friends, have them meet you at the local pub and just chat. Leave your devices in the off position!

“The demands of our devices exceed our ability to meet them.” Genevieve says the video.  – Don’t let your devices control your world.

When we let our minds rest, we let creativity in and from there comes ingenuity and from there, great things and opportunities.

Cheers!
