Lincoln Ad

Personal project to bring back the romance and coolness of the Lincoln ads of the 20’s and 30’s with a nod to the great car illustrations of the 50’s and 60’s. With some further work, I think this look and feel could produce some very nice pieces.

I’ve always loved cars for as long as I can remember. When a friend of mine told me about a job he was working on for Lincoln and re-intorduced me to the classic Lincoln ads of the past, I got to thinking, why not try to do something similar only updated. The cars of today obviously have a different feel and look than do the stately machines of the past. Having been inspired by Art Fitzpatrick and Van Kaufman whose ads in the 60’s I admired so much and armed with the early Lincoln ads from the internet I set out to work. Illustration has such a nice feel for car ads. While Photoshop has replaced my brushes and canvas, an illustrative feel can still grab attention and create mood.

Here’s a nice tribute to these excellent innovative illustrators.
